[Bug 1131689] New: keepassxc: Recent upgrade makes it unusable due to changing established keybindings
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1131689 Bug ID: 1131689 Summary: keepassxc: Recent upgrade makes it unusable due to changing established keybindings Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: Leap 15.0 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Security Assignee: security-team@suse.de Reporter: manfred.h@gmx.net QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- The recent update for openSUSE_Leap_15.0 to keepassxc (new version: 2.4.0-lp150.2.3.1) resulted in a complete "I run away - what the hell" situation for all users I work with! The reason is that almost all keybindings have changed, leaving the program in a manner which is unusable to all my users! Auto-Type has been "Ctrl-V" since always, now it is "Shift-Ctrl-V"; moving in the search selection window was possible using the cursor Up/Down keys - it's not possible anymore; switching from the search field to the found-list using TAB is no longer possible... => This thing is no longer USEABLE! I always thought that such a version UPGRADE from 2.3.3 to 2.4.0 is not possible during a distribution lifetime (I remember such discussions for a real bug-fix upgrade of xfreerdp...), but this upgrade doesn't really fix any real bug (FWIW, I did not find any actual reports), instead it creates such an incredible amount of, "Wow, I need a new password safe" impressions. Please, if the version upgrade cannot be rolled back, please *re-establish* the formerly established and accepted key-bindings! Thx! :( -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Yeah, thought so, too, but such an upgrade should not have been possible at all. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Just curious ... are you using autotype with your browser or other tools?
Just keepassxc, no browser integration or similar. This means, I'm used to use "Ctrl-V" which is now "Shift-Ctrl-V" :( -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1131689 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1131689#c8 --- Comment #8 from Marcus Rückert <mrueckert@suse.com> --- so the explanation for the change: CTRL+V is an established shortcut, also known as paste. using it for activating autotype was NEVER a good idea. especially since it switches to the last used window and just starts going without confirmation. adding SHIFT to that adds a layer of protection. 2nd: I would recommend investigating the official keepassxc browser integration a) it works really well for me b) you can configure it to not autofill (the better way), so once you click into a login field it asks you which credentials to use. and you can decide per entry if the connected browser should be able to access it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
