https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=844896 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=844896#c0 Summary: in opensuse 12.3 install yast2 have to much failed and install y crashed Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: juliandojal@gmail.com QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created an attachment (id=562404) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=562404) all /var/log/yast2 folder just end the install failed User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/29.0.1547.76 Safari/537.36 when i got start yast2 instaler, (need use kernel failsafe, and text mode in yast2), in firts time i add update repo, and chose my preferred system, thats say because the source in install wasnt the dvd install, was the repository. During instalation, a lot of rpms send warning "scritlet failed, exit status 127" and only a few stop installe and cuestion for cancel install or continue...(logicaly, this occurs only with critical, needed package, just i know the install no work, but i continue to the end for add all info) at the end of install mkinitrd cant insstall, and grub report fault installed (but crash my recently repair grub). and yast2 send my "this bug should be report, add info in /var/log/yast2/" i restart system with opensuse 12.1 live and save /var/log/yast2/. i add all folder next time, and this /var/log/yast2/ was just this tryning to install. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.just like in Details. 2.i try to install without repository and just automatic select softwara, with the same result. 3.cant install opensuse 12.3 or 13.1 in my system: amd phenom 3 core 2.3 ghz in asrock with n68s update to v2.1, 2 gb ram and nvidia gforce 9500 gt 500 mb ram. and reproduce in all of source i try. Actual Results: i have now a opensuse 12.3 running in my pc, but just not installed, i build my own susestudio just preloaded usb stick (the usb stick dont start, just like dvds...cant acces to /dev/sdx just after mkinitrd linux kernel). But i dd if=preload... of=hardisk and system start, configure time location eternet...and system run fine, i can install software, desktop, i have nvidia drivers (no unclickinstall), update...and yast2 run fine. Expected Results: cant install opensuse 12.3 or 13.1 in my system, fortunately can run preloaded system :). The install source (all the install source) 12.3 and 13.1, and susestudio build, no boot fine in my system (opensuse 12.1 live fly in this system), i update bios, down pci acces to 32, but all time kernel panic, cant read /dev/sdx... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

For me it looks like a hardware or kernel problem. I'm not sure how to solve it... Could you attach /var/log/messages when Yast files? Did you try a different Linux distro on that machine? Could you run some HW tests? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.

I install without problem, fedora 19 debian (last stable versión, in last week), ubuntustudio (i need down pci acces to 32), and have a similar error (in the dvd start, just when initrd load kernel) with archlinux. I have similar bug in a friend machine with asrock moderboar, with n68s...the firts bug is in install start throught grub, ...load initrd kernel modules..i list some one report in screen: usr/bin/sq_inq udevd_failed to execute usd 1-5: dev no accepting adress <3, error 71 failed to find boot device. sdb no caching modepage present. i acces to yast installed by start with faild mode set in kernel and test mode in screen. this yast.log folder is just when a add update repository, and installer charge the images from dvd, but all packages was download from repositories. I think the bug is in some module, just control the storage firmware in moder board. And is in kernel launch in grub start, and yast installer. when i launch my own susestudio preload from hardisk, yast2 run fine, ??? sorry my bad english¡¡¡ -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
