http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1209730 Bug ID: 1209730 Summary: Support jfs as standard filesystem again Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Tumbleweed Version: Current Hardware: Other OS: openSUSE Tumbleweed Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem Assignee: screening-team-bugs@suse.de Reporter: sachse@gmx.net QA Contact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- FEATURE REQUEST =============== jfs is a rock solid filesystem (not the fastest but fast enough). On ext2,3,4 and btrfs I already seen fatal crashes with complete data loss but never so on jfs and I use Linux since 1994. This entry references to: BUG #993470 and BUG #1209729 -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

Other than your particular use case, what would be the compelling factor to put this little used fs back into the installer as an option? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1209730 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1209730#c2 --- Comment #2 from geheim geheim <sachse@gmx.net> --- I understand if you reduce possibilities for configuration on commercial version to reduce support cases. But on community versions I expect to feel free to use all things which are supported by community. That's the spirit of Linux and Open Source! Not your restrictions and walls like Windows. In this special case we talk about few KB of code and an entry in a combo box. On all my own computers I switched from OpenSuse to Gentoo as Yast2 becomes standard because it destroy a lot of own configuration files which smell like Windows. On pure end user desktop system which never need a special config your system works fine since may years but now it starts again smell like Windows. Do not destroy the spirit of Linux let the people feel free to use all community supported software - never block or blacklist it. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.

You can use the freedoms to change the code as you please. On point: What is your specific compelling use case to support jfs again as a standard FS choice in YaST? -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
