In particular, I worry about banias machines... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

It is deprecated upstream, we should stop using it early. If it breaks someone, this needs to be fixed upstream anyway. Thomas, do you have any clue about this? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Pavel is right, there was a discussion about the statically compiled in Banias frequency information and I cannot find this in acpi_cpufreq. Venkatesh should know the best moment to switch and hopefully helps a bit when we have problems with latest mainline kernels, that is what we will work with the next month on 10.3. I second Seife's comment #2 and suggest to go ahead..., it's worth investing some time if something breaks as it's the way mainline wants to go... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

But Holger or Seife must change in recent powersave/acpid/hal or wherever cpufreq drivers are currently loaded, to not try to modprobe speedstep-centrino anymore then. This should be done first. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=241987 ------- Comment #6 from venkatesh.pallipadi@intel.com 2007-02-05 11:18 MST ------- Changing the config and disabling X86_SPEEDSTEP_CENTRINO_ACPI will affect only systems that use ACPI today. Tabled based centrino is not deprecated and should continue using X86_SPEEDSTEP_CENTRINO I agree with Seife that now is the right time to change the config -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

No changes in userspace, speedstep-centrino is still needed. -> fixed. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
