[Bug 251390] New: No thermal reporting in /proc/acpi/thermal_zone
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=251390 Summary: No thermal reporting in /proc/acpi/thermal_zone Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: harryc56@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de I run an MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum mainboard with the lastest BIOS. The thermal module is loaded on boot, but no data shows up in /proc/acpi/thermal_zone. DSDT had (2) errors which were fixed. The 'fixed' DSDT produces no errors, and there are no thermal errors in DMESG (attached). 'modprobe thermal' produces no errors. lsmod shows the thermal module is loaded (attached). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

Please also post the diff of what got modified in DSDT if available. If you don't have the diff, pls post the original and modified DSDT. Overriding DSDT is a bad idea. It's a workaround that is not acceptable for the common user, this should get fixed in kernel (if possible). Did you get a thermal zone before overriding DSDT? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=251390 ------- Comment #4 from harryc56@gmail.com 2007-03-08 15:47 MST ------- Thomas, thanks for the reply. I attached the new dsdt. I do not have the original, but I can tell you exactly what I changed. In the dsdt, I added line 368 to fix this error; dsdt.dsl 352: Method (\_WAK, 1, NotSerialized) Warning 2026 - ^ Reserved method must return a value (_WAK) Here's line 368 Store (Zero, \_SB.PCI0.SMB0.SMPM) I also had an error on line 2641; dsdt.dsl 2641: Name (_HID, "_NVRAIDBUS") Error 1068 - String must be entirely alphanumeric ^ (_NVRAIDBUS) All I did was remove the _ before NVRAIDBUS. There was no thermal zone either before or after overriding DSDT. I've attached acpidump. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
