[Bug 220316] New: rescue mode: long timeout when loading rescue image via NFS
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=220316 Summary: rescue mode: long timeout when loading rescue image via NFS Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Beta 2 Platform: i386 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: tabt@tabt.de QAContact: qa@suse.de When the PC is booted via PXE and loads the rescue image via NFS, the system comes to a complete halt for several minutes (at least five) after loading the image. On virtual terminal 1, the only line on top of the display reads: Loading Rescue System (26020 kB) - 100% On virtual terminal 3, the last lines read: Loading image /var/... new root: /download/image0 killing portmap (...) killing lsh (...) killing udevd (...) all killed all done On virtual terminal 4, the last line reads: nfs: server 192.168.1.1 not respoding, still trying I would suspect that NFS is still active, but with portmap gone, it is no longer working correctly. After the (long) timeout, booting continues. A few notes about the testing environment: pxelinux config entry: LABEL suse102 KERNEL suse10.2/linux APPEND initrd=suse10.2/initrd ramdisk_size=65536 showopts vga=788 install=nfs://192.168.1.1/data/suse/10.2/CD1 insmod=e100 IPAPPEND 1 Rescue mode started via pxelinux command line "suse102 rescue=1" suse10.2/linux and suse10.2/initrd are copies from the CD1 image boot/i386/loader/, the CD itself is an image loop mounted on the server. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
