I can confirm that this confuses a lot of users; gnome-xgl-switch should be fixed to not display these messages. The problem is in /usr/bin/gnome-xgl-switch resp. /opt/gnome/bin/gnome-xgl-switch on earlier distros: /etc/X11/xdm/SuSEconfig.xdm || exit 1 Suggest new code: /etc/init.d/xdm force-reload || exit 1 That way, the output gets redirected to the syslog. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=207624 ------- Comment #12 from andreas.hanke@gmx-topmail.de 2007-01-19 19:32 MST ------- Created an attachment (id=114010) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=114010&action=view) Extended fix I have combined this fix with a maybe-nicer (less hackerish) fix for bug 235177 and also restored compatibility with SL10.1/SLED10 (on these, SuSEconfig.xdm is still in /sbin/conf.d and not /etc/X11/xdm). This is required because it seems that you're providing a backport of the compiz package in the build service. The current code works with >= 10.2 only. Combined in a single diff because it's about the same things (moving executables etc.) -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.

It doesn't work on configure level, but on specfile level, though. As there are more things to be changed depending on the gnome path, this patch wouldn't be enough. The current fix is also SL10.1/SLED10 compatible
Really? It seems to use /etc/X11/xdm/SuSEconfig.xdm unconditionally which doesn't exist on SL10.1/SLED10. It's /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.xdm until before 10.2. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
