With current graphics hardware this is a non-issue, though.
I'm not sure what you mean by this. I use mostly older hardware. A large part of what I do involves testing browsers and web pages at particular (and arbitrary as relates to the hardware I'm using) combinations of X DPI and resolution. I use xorg.conf options like 'Virtual ... ...', 'Option "NoDDC"' and 'Displaysize ... ...' to accomplish this. Anyway, I'll be pursuing your suggestions as time permits. Thanks. I think it's time that the KDE team takes a look here. To assist this could you please run 'pstree' from a second text console when the shutdown startx still hangs and post the output (just the processes that are linked to startx) here. This will indicate which application is 'hanging'.
With startx session hung, I redirected the output of pstree to a file. It does not contain the word startx. It's not apparent to me what if anything in it might be of use other than maybe this one line: |-login---bash---tee -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
