https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=228131 Summary: After the 12/12 auto-update to allow acl(s) on nodes - only 'root' can log-in - most apps don't work for root. Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Security AssignedTo: security-team@suse.de ReportedBy: mszick@morethan.org QAContact: qa@suse.de System 10.2-GM released 12/7 - Single user workstation. Updated 12/12 by auto-notify of a ???? (missing name) software update. Stated purpose was to allow acl(s) to be added to nodes. System was not using acl(s) anywhere, at any time. Filesystem is reiserfs on a single partition, mounted with "acl, user_xattr" options - the filesystem is 'acl aware'. Visable directory/file permissions on /usr/bin/man look correct - But the user 'root' gets 'permission denied' when executing 'man man' - (Makes it real hard to look up the directions.) Login for other user(s) - even a newly added user - fails - only 'root' can still log in. Login manager is KDM, password encyrption is DES. System a 'new install' - I can revert to bare disks and run any set-up sequence you might need to locate this problem.
