The drive started to make noises and everything hung until some seconds after I had issued an eject command for the drive (pressing the eject button on the drive repeatedly like mad did not stop it). The optiocal drive sounds like a floppy drive doing "track 0 calibration" all the time and I hear something hitting a hard wall, and that doesn't sound well. Needless to say that only Linux triggers such an effect; I never had such problems with Windows.
