https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=883679 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=883679#c0 Summary: pidgin voice-video settings plugin missing in 13.1 Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jimc@math.ucla.edu QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- I'm unable to locate the Pidgin voice-video settings plugin on the SuSE Build Service, and I suspect it's not lame searching skills; the plugin isn't there. That makes it impossible to do voice or video calls in Pidgin. The Farstream libraries are there, which would be dependencies that the plugin would load, but not the plugin itself. The plugin was last seen in SuSE 12.2 and I used it semi-successfully. Cross references: This is different from bug 553804 in SuSE 11.2, where a library path was wrong. The issue was also brought up in this forum post: http://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/484814-OpenSUSE-12-3-Pidgin-Voice-... but it was not resolved. What I would like the developers to do: Compile and pack up the plugin for the Build Service repo. I would also suggest including it in the official distro for 13.2. If you're going to provide Farstream, you need to also provide the UI plugin that calls that library. And video (or voice) chat is something a lot of people want to do; see the popularity of the non-FOSS Skype. People say to me, "Your open source model is inferior because it has no native video chat capability; one has to use the commercial product." -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
