http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=555286 Summary: updating to nvidia drivers causes the X server to fail Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X.Org AssignedTo: bnc-team-xorg-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: per.jessen@enidan.com QAContact: xorg-maintainer-bugs@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-GB; rv:1.8.1.6) Gecko/20070730 SUSE/2.0.0.6-25 Firefox/2.0.0.6 I've got a freshly installed 11.2 system, and tried to run doom3. This gave me some sort of error, which made me think "I need to install the nvidia drivers, of course". I added the "download.nvidia.com/opensuse/11.2" repository, chose "Software Mgmt" and let it install what was suggested. Then I rebooted, and the X server failed to start. I'll add logs etc. Reproducible: Always -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
