If I have the headphones plugged in the headphones volume slider has no effect only the master sliders. Yes, the laptop keyboard has + and - for volume but no effect in Linux. I tried to push them while doing this test: speaker-test -Dplug:front -c2 -l50 -twav but no luck. I tried to change all options for ac97_quirk=-1(01234567) and restart alsa after each of them but again no luck.
