Earlier I used 'Mozilla' repository containing last Thunderbird. But security updates causes reinstalling Firefox from main repository if it [Firefox] was installed from 'Mozilla' repository.
That's not true. The mozilla repository is always faster than the official repository with version updates. There never was a reason to switch to the official version (actually they are identical anyway).
Moreover, some related to Firefox packages can installed only with Firefox from main repository. So, it is difficult to use Firefox from 'Mozilla' repository.
Please tell me examples. I (and I'm sure others) am using Firefox only from that repository and have no issues.
So, must I add 'Mozilla' repository to install only Thunderbird? And what are a differences between Firefox from main repository and from 'mozilla' repository? Is the security updates only for Firefox from main repo or firefox updates from 'mozilla' repo includes the same security updates?
There is no difference nowadays since all the packages are maintained by the same person. The version in mozilla usually gets released earlier just by not having to follow the maintenance workflow. Even Thunderbird 3.6.x is still available in the mozilla repository in the same version as in the official 11.4 update channel. The difference is that "mozilla" has always the latest stable versions while your distribution might still have older versions (which still get security updates). -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
