http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=970922 Bug ID: 970922 Summary: HPLIP or CUPS deactivates printing because of a low toner warning Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE Distribution Version: 13.2 Hardware: All OS: openSUSE 13.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Printing Assignee: jsmeix@suse.com Reporter: thejze@gmx.at QA Contact: jsmeix@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Created attachment 668875 --> http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=668875&action=edit Yast Printer Configuration dialog I use a HP LaserJet 400MFP M425dn for printing jobs. Recently the device emitted a low ink warning (for the first) time. Printing via PC has been deactivated since. The low ink warning was at about 15% (factory setting). Upon reaching this level a warning message appeared on the device and printing was disabled since. Diagnosis: - Printer is deactivated in YAST (see attachment) - Printer is in the state "Stopped" in HP Device Manager>Printer control (see second attachment) - Message "supplies information not available for this device" in HP Device Manager>Supplies What I tried: -Press the "Start Printer" button in HP Device Manager>Printer control. Result: a message "job completed" in the Plasma taskbar, but no printing occurs. Always reproducible - try to reactivate printing in YAST (with root permissions): YAST>Printer>Edit>click on activate printing, press the Ok button. Result: no effect, printing is deactivated.Always reproducible. - edit the configuration of the hardware on the touchpanel of the device: * Configuration>System>Material>Toner black>low level settings: is on "Go On" nothing to do here. * Configuration>System>Material>Toner black>low level value: set to 1%. Result the warning message disappears on the touch panel - trying to directly print from the hardware using the USB-port of the device. Result: printing is possible System Information: Desktop PC with OpenSuse 13.2 and all updates. hplip-sane-3.15.11-132.1.x86_64 hplip-3.15.11-132.1.x86_64 hplip-hpijs-3.15.11-132.1.x86_64 cups-libs-32bit-1.5.4-21.9.1.x86_64 cups-filters-foomatic-rip-1.0.58-2.11.1.x86_64 cups-libs-1.5.4-21.9.1.x86_64 cups-client-1.5.4-21.9.1.x86_64 cups-pk-helper-0.2.5-4.1.4.x86_64 python-cupshelpers-1.4.5-2.5.1.noarch python-cups-1.9.66-2.1.3.x86_64 cups-1.5.4-21.9.1.x86_64 cups-filters-ghostscript-1.0.58-2.11.1.x86_64 I hope somebody finds out what's going on here.
