ghostscript is a PostScript interpreter: it makes graphical output
(including pdf) from PostScript code. There are no real metadata layer(s)
in PostScript[tm] (beside case differentiation written in PostScript).
You should see the same result with `gs exampleBug.ps' and
`acroread exampleBug.pdf' or `gs exampleBug.pdf'. PDF has real layers/metadata,
like comments and links. It up on the viewer to do this correct.
Beside this: there is no attachment on this bug to reproduce this behaviour.
Remark: dvi has also real layers/metadata (which includes the PostScript
specials). If you use dvips then you drop some of these layers and get flat
PostScript code. With ps2pdf or pstopdf you'll never reconstruct these
layers/metadata from the original DVI data. This is what pdflatex or the
old way dvipdfm(x) should do.
Do you ever have tried out TeXLive 2008 from
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Publishing/openSUSE_11.1/
.. it would be interesting if this happens also with newer versions.
