https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=406629 Summary: XGL graphics not supported for NVidia 8700 GT with SLI Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: X11 3rd Party Driver AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bbrentso@intech-solutions.com QAContact: sndirsch@novell.com Found By: Customer OpenSUSE 11 does not appear to support the dual video w/ SLI support for the NVidia 8700GT card found commonly in the Dell XPS 1730. I had actually gone to the extent of downloading the latest driver from NVidia and recompiling it. This was also a problem with SLED 10 SP2 Beta until release candidate 2 of that platform and then the problem was fixed. Essentially the symptom is that once any video mode is selected beyond the base level 800x600 vesa, the screen will go black for not only X but for even the virtual TTYs as well. It is as though OpenSUSE can not negotiate the fact that there are two video cards working together in the system. Again I would encourage interaction with the SLED team being they found a fix for this either intentional or inadvertent. My guess it was a tweak to a kernel module for this specific card.
