https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=483255 Summary: RTL8111/8168B network card changes HW address on reboot Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: zinser@zinser.no-ip.info QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.19) Gecko/20081213 SUSE/1.1.14-0.1 SeaMonkey/1.1.14 This Gigabit wired ethernet card shows a different HW address upon every reboot. This is a notebook computer, i.e. it reboots on a regular basis. The problem is that I assign specific addresses/hostnames to the systems via DHCP based on the HW address they present. This obviously does not work if the HW address changes with each boot. Smolt UUID for this system is 6748ea39-bb38-4420-8e68-92a90ce5a26e Network is controlled via networkmanager, ipv6 is disabled Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Reboot 2. Check HW address Actual Results: HW address changes upon every reboot Expected Results: HW address should be fixed -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
