https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=646499 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=646499#c0 Summary: YaST2 Network Config ethtool Options are ignored or set to Default Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.3 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.3 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Sebastian.Riemer@gmx.de QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; de; rv:1.9.2.10) Gecko/20100914 SUSE/3.6.10-0.3.1 Firefox/3.6.10 NIC driver "r8169" had to be replaced with "r8168" due to speed issues --> driver loaded, the speed was still too slow. In /sys/devices/.../net/eth0 the NIC speed was set to 10 (10 Mbit/s) but 100 Mbit/s were needed, so I've set the ethtool options to "speed 100 duplex full port tp" using YaST network config. Finished config - but speed still at 10. I entered the command "ethtool -s eth0 speed 100 duplex full port tp" --> speed at 100. Reboot --> speed still at 100. YaST2 ethtool config left the same - finished NIC setup again --> speed 10, duplex half. I called ethtool from console again --> speed at 100. I added doulble quotes to the ethtool options --> the recent settings remain untouched. I also tryed "-s eth0 speed 100 duplex full port tp" --> always the same behavior. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. configure with ethtool directly ("-s eth0 speed 100 duplex full port tp") 2. run YaST NIC setup with the same ethtool options 3. check /sys/devices/.../net/eth0/speed Actual Results: Some default ethtool options are set by YaST NIC config (10 Mbit/s, half duplex) Expected Results: The configured ethtool options should be set (100 Mbit/s, full duplex) openSUSE 11.3 x86-64 KDE Kernel: 2.6.34.7-0.3-desktop NIC: RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller Mainboard: Gigabyte MA74GM-S2H NIC-driver: r8168 from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/drivers:/nic/openSUSE_11.3_update/ all updates installed -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
