https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=717377 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=717377#c0 Summary: Desktop 12.1 M5 Gnome doesn't boot on AsusM4A89 GTD w/MMD 890 GX - boot only in Failsafe mode Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.1 Version: Milestone 5 Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Bootloader AssignedTo: jsrain@suse.com ReportedBy: terje@nordland-teknikk.no QAContact: jsrain@suse.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:6.0.2) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/6.0.2 After manual correcting the disk destination in the Grub menu.lst, as reported in Bug 717321: Desktop openSUSE 12.1 M5 - 3.0.0-4 wouldn't boot, seemed to freeze and resulted in a black (and nothing more visible) after the first display message 'Doing fast boot' Failsafe mode did boot and displayed the GDM login menu. At the first logon attempt, some error messages occured: Gnome 3 could not start correct and starts in 'Reserve' mode. The system, graphic hardware or driver don't support Gnome 3. At later logon attempts in Failsafe mode, these error messages were not displayed again. I was able to logon to the desktop. The resolution was to small, 1450x1050 maximum (should be 1920x1080) and the screen size is somewhat too small and doesn fill the display. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. As above 2. 3. Actual Results: As above Expected Results: Boot Desktop mode correctly as openSUSE 11.4 has done before 12.1 and as the current Tumbleweed 3.0.4-43 does -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
