https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=811114 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=811114#c0 Summary: missing base modules in kernel-desktop-3.4.33-2.24.1.x86_64.rpm Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 12.2 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 12.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jabber@gmx.org QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:19.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/19.0 I've installed kernel-desktop and after update to 3.4.33-2.24-1 several base modules like ehci-hcd are missing. When I try to install kernel-desktop-base, zypper says: Problem: kernel-desktop-base-3.4.33-2.24.1.x86_64 conflicts with kernel-desktop = 3.4.33-2.24.1 provided by kernel-desktop-3.4.33-2.24.1.x86_64 Solution 1: replacement of kernel-desktop-3.4.33-2.24.1.x86_64 with kernel-desktop-3.8.3-1.1.x86_64 Solution 2: do not install kernel-desktop-base-3.4.33-2.24.1.x86_64 AFAIR I've had installed both packages with prior kernel releases. For now, I've installed kernel 3.8.3-1-default from Kernel:stable that also has the base modules like ehci-hcd. But maybe either kernel-(desktop|default|xen|...)-base should become an addition to kernel-(desktop|default|xen|...) again or the essential modules like ehci-hcd should be put into the kernel-* rpm. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. install opensuse 12.2 2. sudo zypper update 3. rpm -ql kernel-desktop-3.4.33 | grep ehci Actual Results: nothing Expected Results: /lib/modules/3.4.33-2.24-desktop/kernel/drivers/usb/host/ehci-hcd.ko /lib/modules/3.4.33-2.24-desktop/kernel/drivers/usb/host/ehci-pci.ko /lib/modules/3.4.33-2.24-desktop/kernel/drivers/usb/host/ehci-platform.ko -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
