I like command line :-). It makes it easier to debug. The exact present situation (tested on 11.4 and 12.1) is the following (on my network, firewall stopped): * cups backend detect the HP 5M printer * cups backend do not detect the other one (c4100). This may be because it's connected on a printer server (proprietary linux box). Notice nmap shows the 9100 port of the box is open (and the printer works) * YaST printer module, when launched, detect neither of the printers. Using "add" try to detect, do not detect anything, uses 2 minutes compiling printer drivers (why if there are no printers?) and stops * at this moment, "detect more" find the HP5M, but not the other one * the wizard do the same, that is find the HP5M but not the c4100 * for this c4100 one, If I fill the IP part (here 192.168.0.254), the "test" button answer "OK" If the firewall is set, no detection work but the printer work. It could be interesting to add the capability on the yast module to stop the firewall during the test (or open the necessary port) and close it again later. Some other modules do such magic. I will follow your links to see if it's necessary to fill a bug report upstream for the c4100 thanks jdd -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
