I agree that this is not an X issue. The information he posted in Comment #3 is not out of the ordinary: With openSUSE 10.3 "sysp -s mouse" reports the same information when booted with the Logitech mouse connected. The difference relates to what happens when I subsequently unplug the Logitech mouse. After this event, with openSUSE 10.3, "sysp -s mouse" reports that the touchpad has been detected. With openSUSE 11.0, "sysp -s mouse" erroneously continues to report the presence of the Logitech mouse.
