https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=431736 Summary: Gnome network manager applet does not work Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Factory Platform: Macintosh OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: razvan.cosma@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer Hello, The issues outlined below target only this single application (configuring from the terminal works) so I'm filing a single report for all 1. Cannot create a new wired network profile. Steps to reproduce on my system: right-click on the tray icon, edit connections, add, select the title field, type any letter and the window closes immediately without any message. 2. Editing the pre-existing "auto eth0" profile works, I can configure a static IP, route and DNS, but the settings are not remembered after a reboot. 3. Wireless networks are remembered, and the applet tries to reconnect to the ones I have specified as "connect automatically", but the WEP key is not saved and has to be re-entered after a reboot. 4. Wireless interface appears to work, available networks are displayed, but I cannot connect. The only workaround is to rmmod ndiswrapper (Atheros card in a Macbook Pro), wait until NetworkManager detects the interface is gone, modprobe back, wait until the network is detected, and type the key as usual. The computer connects. 5. The applet does not allow for a "static DNS" option. This is more of a wanted feature than a major bug: for a mobile workstation, that connects to random networks using DHCP and several VPN solutions, it would be very useful to always keep "search mydomain.com" and a set of nameservers I trust in resolv.conf The only solution so far is to chattr +i /etc/resolv.conf but depending on the implementation this causes applications like NetworkManager or Wicd to hang indefinitely waiting for that file to be updated. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
