http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=542099 Summary: Grub installation with XFS root partition hangs forever Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.2 Version: Milestone 7 Platform: i586 OS/Version: SuSE Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: AutoYaST AssignedTo: ug@novell.com ReportedBy: pierre.berthier@ini.phys.ethz.ch QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- Created an attachment (id=319876) --> (http://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=319876) autoyast XML configuration file User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.0.14) Gecko/2009090217 Ubuntu/9.04 (jaunty) Firefox/3.0.14 Starting autoyast installation with a simplistic install.xml file (in textmode), that defines a xfs root partition and asks to use grub as bootloader, never finishes. During the installation of packages, the installer stops when installing grub-0.97-161.2.i586.rpm. There is no error message, it looks like the installation of this package takes forever and actually never finishes. In the background, grub uses 100% CPU. Logs follow. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. boot autoyast with the attached install.xml 2. 3. Actual Results: The installer never finishes the installation of the grub package and runs forever. Expected Results: The installer should complete the installation of the grub package and go on with the installation. If I change <filesystem config:type="symbol">xfs</filesystem> to <filesystem config:type="symbol">ext3</filesystem> in the install.xml, the problem vanishes and the installation works fine. -- Configure bugmail: http://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
