https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=247869 Summary: Report of "test your connection" failing Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: Other OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: jdepew@novell.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com A blogger posted a step-by-step tutorial for installing openSUSE 10.2 on Virtual PC 2007 at http://arcanecode.wordpress.com/2007/02/16/installing-opensuse-102-on-virtua... He reports the following issue: "At the end of the network configuration, openSUSE wants to test your connection. Assuming you are connected to the web, leave Yes selected and click next to perform the test. Now, when I tried to do the test, it kept failing on me. I puzzled, fumed, changed things, but could find nothing wrong. Finally, out of desperation, I clicked the Back button to return to the screen below, then told it to skip the test, and go on. By golly, it actually worked just fine! I guess the problem is on the Novell end, as openSUSE happily proceeded to download all sorts of online updates with no problems." Kim Eaves forwarded this to Michael Loeffler and Andreas Jaeger and they recommended submitting a bug.
