I installed KDE Plasma theme editor, changed the theme and replaced NetworkManager icons with those from oxygen theme
AFAIK the icons are actually included in the theme, they are just in the wrong file, network.svgz (which was used by the old KDE4 network applet). Maybe it would be better to use those instead?
