https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=475996 Summary: Qt 4.4.90 from KDE:/Qt repository causes plasma/kwin consume much cpu time and system tray is corrupted Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: eveith@wwweb-library.net QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (compatible; Konqueror/4.1; Linux) KHTML/4.1.3 (like Gecko) SUSE I am using the semi-official repositories KDE:Qt and KDE:/KDE4:/STABLE. Today, an update pulled in Qt 4.4.90+4.5rc1. This led to the following effects: 1. Compositing is extremely slow. 2. Window drawing is sometimes really slow even with compositing disabled, but this was not reproducable. I. e. Konsole would take about half a minute to show, but Konqueror comes up immediately. 3. Some processes take alot of cpu usage: Either X, kwin4 or plasma are at about 50%-75%, but never all of them. Sometimes it would be X, sometimes kwin4, sometimes plasma. This effect starts immediately after logging in. 4. Qt programs are crashing all the time. E. g. closing Konsole always brought up the kde crash manager, but while it was open, it never crashed -- only on closing. 5. The system tray is corrupted: After logging in, all icons are drawed over another. I can click the topmost icon. Removing the system tray plasmoid and adding it again partially solves this; icons are displayed correctly then. However, when I sent another application to the system tray (e. g. starting Kopete), it doesn't show up, but the program starts. After hiding icons, the systray does not resize itself, but leaves room for the hidden icons, which is exactly where the hidden icons was. Downgrading Qt to 4.4.3, e. g. from repo-oss, immediately solves the problem (after logging out and back in). P. S. This is my first bug report here. I hope I selected the correct component/product and reported it at the correct place. I searched whether this bug was already reported, but didn't find any other similar report. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.
