If reverting to the monolithic packages we had in pre-openSUSE 12.3 is not an
option (sigh! It was definitely more functional for users) , would it be
possible to add a reasonable set of dependencies to LaTeX editors, so that
users end up with a configuration somewhat similar to what was offered before?
For example, kyle was pulling a fully functional LaTeX environment for
scientific purposes, with the classes of major publishers available out of the
box. Right now there are a myriad of packages, and the naming of the
collections is not descriptive enough, which requires to search for packages by
hand using YaST.
Also, a short comment in the release notes would have helped. When upgrading to
openSUSE 12.3 from previous releases, the LaTeX installation loses a lot of
functionality.
