http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1170109 http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1170109#c6 --- Comment #6 from Carlos Robinson <carlos.e.r@opensuse.org> --- Thank you :-) For some unknown reason, when told to update to newer packages on repo, it chose the preempt instead of default. I noticed when booting. cer@Telcontar:/data/storage_c/repositorios_zypp/LocalRPMs_15.1-15.2-kernel> ls kernel-default* kernel-default-5.3.18-lp152.10.4.x86_64.rpm kernel-default-base-rebuild-5.3.18-lp152.10.4.lp152.4.13.x86_64.rpm kernel-default-base-5.3.18-lp152.10.4.lp152.4.13.x86_64.rpm kernel-default-devel-5.3.18-lp152.10.4.x86_64.rpm cer@Telcontar:/data/storage_c/repositorios_zypp/LocalRPMs_15.1-15.2-kernel> ls kernel-preempt-* kernel-preempt-5.3.18-lp152.10.4.x86_64.rpm kernel-preempt-devel-5.3.18-lp152.10.4.x86_64.rpm cer@Telcontar:/data/storage_c/repositorios_zypp/LocalRPMs_15.1-15.2-kernel> I'll force back. [...] It appears that Kernel-syms requires kernel-preempt and thus installs both default and preempt. And the preempt goes first in the default grub2 menu. Just for future reference, I'll write here the firmware update data. The MB site is: <https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/support/X470-GAMING-PLUS-MAX> One of the updates mentions "- Improved NVMe device compatibility" - might affect Bug 1170110. I'm going to download and install the latest: Version 7B79vH4 Release Date 2019-11-11 File Size 14.09 MB Description - Improved system boot up time. - Improved PCI-E device compatibility. and let's hope it does something good. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
