https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=381667 Summary: rt61pci device works in install but not afterward due lack of firmware Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Factory Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.0 Status: NEW Severity: Enhancement Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: fynydd@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Beta-Customer I have a curious problem, for the first time my wireless card worked during install and I was able to install all packages using just that (congratulations for this), however, when I have finished the final configure and 'ifup wlan0' I find that it will not work. The rt61pci driver is built into kernel these days and I realise that I need to copy the firmware for the card (rt2561.bin, from the wireless card's CD) to /lib/firmware and then it works fine. This is as I have done before so I knew the trick.. BUT.. how did the install from the factory network cd work before I did this then? Does it come with that firmware on it, and if so could it be included on the DVD or your ftp tree? I thought it wouldn't be as it is proprietary to Ralink but today it works so I am curious. I use openSUSE 11.0 ~Beta1 installed using http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/boot/bo... -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
