Since this works on Linux, and threads were so flaky all those years ago, non-threaded became the default for Linux. Honestly, I think it could be changed, but I don't think pthread is as well tested, since most user's use whatever their distro compiles :) ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Currently it is unknown what possible bad sife effects "--enable-pthread" could have and the above comment does not look very promising.
From my point of view general reliability for all other models is much more important than one single more supported model.
Therefore I will not use "--enable-pthread", at least not for now.
