https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=880394 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=880394#c0 Summary: Gnome 3.10 / Gnome-Shell has a memory leak Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: PC OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: GNOME AssignedTo: bnc-team-gnome@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: creation@suseromania.ro QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/35.0.1916.114 Safari/537.36 I`m using openSUSE 13.1, with Gnome 3.10. Since the installation of the OS i have noticed that Gnome-shell is using plenty of RAM just after the desktop gets loaded and no other "ram hungy" application is running, using around 900Mb - 1Gb of Ram. After i start my usual applications like skype, pidgin, google chrome, clementine and occasionally steam, the RAM consumption gets around 2Gb of RAM. The bad part of this situation is that after 2 hours of use, when i close the applications RAM consumption does not drop as expected. Lucky me is that i have 4 Gb of RAM. Youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o5T12xhu4S8 Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install openSUSE 13.1 with Gnome 3.10 2. Login in to the desktop and start running applications 3. Close the applications and notice just a small drop in Ram usage in System Monitor Actual Results: Ram consumption did not dropped at least 1Gb as expected. Expected Results: Gnome 3.10 / gnome-shell in particularly should use less memory that 1Gb on Ram, Gnome 3.8 used around 800 Mb. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
