https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=461321 Summary: DM-crypt lockup with heavy accesses Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i586 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: f+novell@congenio.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: Customer I have a lockup when I access a LUKS-encrypted device on a LVM volume. My system seems locked up for any I/O. Open SSH shells don't respond, file I/O is suspended, keyboard input does not stop screen saver. However, intrinsic operations such as TCP/IP seem to work (system responds to pings). This worked fine with SuSE 10.3, with kernel 2.6.22.19-0.1-bigsmp, BTW. The system was upgraded to openSUSE 11.1 with 2.6.27 and froze up 4 times in 48 hours with moderate file I/O. This is a condition which I have seen from time to time when the kernel internal crypto APIs have changed. Devicemapper seems to be very prone to these conditions, even more so if multiple layers of DM-devices stack up. I believe, there were changes around 2.6.24/2.6.25 which may have caused this: http://lkml.indiana.edu/hypermail/linux/kernel/0803.1/2389.html http://www.archivum.info/dm-devel@redhat.com/2008-06/msg00007.html This one is a major showstopper for me. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
