https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=209209 Summary: Suse Linux 10.1 LIVE DVD kernel panics on Intel 64bit systems during bootup Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Other AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: cerebus_8@yahoo.com QAContact: qa@suse.de I have this issue on every x86-64 and intel 64bit system I've tested. using the downloaded Suse Linux 10.1 LIVE DVD from novell. The disk will boot, and comes up with the Gnome/KDE selection screen. As soon as I select either one (Doesn't matter which, the problem happens), the system shows a kernel panic. I've tested this several times on many systems and it's always the same. The opensuse 10.1 GM DVD works ok, as well the Suse Linux ("Pro") 10.1 dual layer DVD boot also works ok too. Just limited to "live" version. Here's some info on the box (currently running suse 10.1) - Linux TEST-XXX 2.6.16.13-4-smp #1 SMP Wed May 3 04:53:23 UTC 2006 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 3.00GHz stepping 02 Brought up 2 CPUs Don't know what else you might need. It has a gig of ram, and uses a 160gig SATA drive. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
