Thanks for the report.
Feel free to let us know earlier next time -- before it annoys you too
much. Mail to ftpadmin@suse.de is fine (that'll be quicker than the time
it needs for the bug to get reassigned to the right component in
bugzilla. Unfortunately, I just found it by accident right now...)
Two things:
The patch-fetchmsttfonts thing is a different problem; that mirror is
not to blame here. Check bug 352719. It affected only that file and was
caused by manual intervention by the buildsystem people. The
infrastructure has a workaround at the moment, until it is clear whether
such manual intervention can be avoided.
The other thing is, I think I can calm you regarding nux.ipb.pt, because
there was a similar report some time ago, and indeed I find the
following note from myself in the redirector database:
"""
set a low score (from 50 down to 3), after mail from mail@<snipped> at
Mon, Feb 11, 2008 at 09:31:25AM +0000: "Currently download.opensuse.org
redirects Portuguese users to ftp.nux.ipb.pt, but its server bandwidth has been
extremely slow for the past few months. As so, I would like to ask if you could
redirect download.opensuse.org to cesium.di.uminho.pt/pub/opensuse instead.
This mirror doesnt mirror build service though, so please also keep
ftp.nux.ipb.pt available as a mirror for build service."
"""
Thus, this sounds as if I fixed the problem at the time, and I would be
glad to know if you can confirm this, or to know if the problems
persist.
On a related note: somebody should convince the zypp people to make the client
more robust against failure, because for now it fails in every conceivable way
if a mirror is broken (and mirrors break all the time). There are enough
mirrors available for fallback...
Specifically, what would help is that the client falls back in case of an
error, plus it could have more intelligent mirror selection (e.g. based on
speed, reliability)
