https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=457570 Summary: Boot of system with SATA Raid hangs in GRUB Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: GMC Platform: x86-64 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Installation AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: Winfrid.Tschiedel@fujitsu-siemens.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com Found By: Third Party Developer/Partner Created an attachment (id=258871) --> (https://bugzilla.novell.com/attachment.cgi?id=258871) YaST2 log from the installation I have FSC Primergy rx220 with Promise FastTrak S150 TX4 ( 1 RAID0 with 1 disk ). On this System there are several linux installation, which are bootet via chainloader. I installed on this disk additional openSUSE 11.1 GMC and selected install bootloader to boot-partition. At this point I have a question, Novell offers 5 locations to install the boot-loader : MBR boot-partition root-partition extended partition specified partition As far as I have seen offer most of the major distributions just MBR and one specified partition ( the partition which contains /boot ). Which of the 5 Novell selections should work in case of chainloading ? The installation finished without any visible error, but reboot was hanging in grub, looks like that the MBR was distroyed. PS.: I was not able to update an existing openSUSE 11.1 RC2 - openSUSE 11.1 did not find any appropriate Linux installation on the disk -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug.
