https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=229430 Summary: Reconfiguring wireless card with security after installation - non intuitive Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: YaST2 AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: sunny@icebergwireless.com QAContact: jsrain@novell.com A fresh install of OpenSuse 10.2 i386 on Dell Latitude D600 laptop. The wireless card detected OK during the installation (bcm43xx driver). After using the fwcutter the card is operational. The problem is, that I needed to set the WPA security in YaST, so I can have connection before a user is logged in. I was unable to follow the instructions in the documents (36.1.3) to set the card. The device type was set to "Ethernet" and it was dimmed, so I could not change it to "Wireless", so there was no screen to set the WPA settings, etc. I ended up to delete the card in Yast, so it was displayed as "Not configured". Then I had to click edit, and the Device type field was accessible. I changed it to wireless, and was able to configure the card properly. This is not very intuitive, and the documentation was misleading. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
