Okay, the output from comment #2 is as expected on KDE... the noise is about
some GNOME specific services not being usable (GNOME Settings Daemon). Nothing
to be alarmed over.
What is alarming is that if using dbus-launch does indeed launch Banshee, then
something is legitimately hosed with your DBus setup in KDE. However, that's
not a Banshee issue.
The freezing after Banshee starts is likely just a known DAAP freeze bug
(bug#450125), for which we have a fix. We will be releasing 1.4.2 soon, and
pushing all the relevant fixes as an online update to 11.1.
I am going to close this as INVALID for now, since dbus-launch does at least
start Banshee. Again, the freezing after the start up should be fixed with the
online update to be pushed soon. After the online update is pushed if you still
encounter problems with Banshee startup that is not solved by using dbus-launch
(or figuring out your DBus session environment issue in KDE), please re-open
this bug or file a new one.
I recommend opening a new bug along the lines of "my DBus session is broken
under KDE, I need to use dbus-launch to open DBus-powered applications" in the
mean time.
Cheers!
