https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=179702 ------- Comment #81 from trenn@novell.com 2006-10-18 09:48 MST ------- Let me explain what I did: I tried to fix three problems at once: - psmouse stuff that forbids highest freq (with Vojtech suggestions) - battery readings/writings (which I thought are related to stuck ACPI processes also see http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5534, but I was wrong, this is also related to the psmouse mod?) - fan problems on some HPs (at least nx6125) What I learned from that: - The fan problems at least should be unrelated to the mouse issue. - The battery problems on the nx9420 seem to be related to the mouse issue. - Vojtech suggestions did not fix the mouse and the resulting ACPI problems What next: I compiled new kernels (hmm I forgot to rip out the mouse patch that did not work, but it shouldn't matter). I compiled the psmouse stuff as module and still added the other workarounds for fan/thermal/power issues. They are (or should pop up soon) here: ftp.suse.com/pub/people/trenn/sle10_SP1_hp_fix_cpufreq_ACPI_events_kernels_snd_try If someone wants to have a look at the patches, I also placed them there. Could you try out these kernels and rmmod the psmouse module to see if everything works fine then, pls. If yes, there is only the mouse issue left... bad enough. I have to discuss that with Vojtech again... no idea how to solve this one yet. If something still does not work pls report, then there are still other things.. Most important are regressions. If you find anything not working, that did before, pls tell me. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
