http://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=977563 Bug ID: 977563 Summary: network:time/ntp: ntp is built without PPS API support Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Hardware: Other OS: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: 3rd party software Assignee: max@suse.com Reporter: matwey.kornilov@gmail.com QA Contact: opensuse-communityscreening@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: --- Blocker: --- Hello, Unfortunately, I've found, that ntp daemon provided by Factory and possibly other distros lacks PPS API support. PPS API is an interface provided by Linux kernel to supply pulse-per second events generated by external hardware (for instance, GPS receiver or high-precision frequency standard). See following for details: https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/pps/pps.txt ntpd claims to support API in drivers 20 and 22: https://www.eecis.udel.edu/~mills/ntp/html/drivers/driver22.html https://www.eecis.udel.edu/~mills/ntp/html/drivers/driver20.html However, to provide this support, ntpd requires timepps.h header file, which is not found at compile time: [ 138s] checking timepps.h usability... no [ 138s] checking timepps.h presence... no [ 138s] checking for timepps.h... no The file itself is a part of http://www.linuxpps.org/gitweb/?p=pps-tools;a=tree and contains a couple of inline C functions. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
