https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=214247 Summary: ohci-hcd irq lossage - sudden mouse and keyboard disconnect - nForce4 - Dell Dim. E521 Product: SUSE Linux 10.1 Version: Final Platform: x86-64 URL: http://wpi-solutions.nl/ OS/Version: SuSE Linux 10.1 Status: NEW Keywords: dogfood Severity: Critical Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: kernel-maintainers@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: j.keet@wandromeda.demon.nl QAContact: qa@suse.de On brand new (14-10-2006) Dell Dimension E521, AMD64-X2 4200+ , 1 Gig, nForce4 chipset, mouse (and sometimes keyboard), keeps disconnecting very often. Nothing works: Recompile SuSE-kernel (2.6.16-4-smp) with different configs, acpi=off, noapic, nolapic, nosmp , in all combinations. Recompile mainstream-kernel (2.6.12 - 2.6.18) with different configs, acpi=off, noapic, nolapic, nosmp , in all combinations. As said, nothing works, the ohci-hcd kernel keeps saying: ohci-hcd irq lossage and the mouse stops working, until pulled out and replugged in. On kernels other than SuSE's 2.6.16-4 also ACPI gives blocking-trouble. Not one (!) kernel is able to bootup (hang during kernel invocation) with ACPI. Hardware is OK, in Windows XP pro it works perfectly, OHCI, ACPI, SMP, all of it. Frustrating is that Dell presents the Dimension E521 as a typical Linux system, also with AMD64-X2 and mentions SuSE as a distro. I bought this Dell, and also SuSE-boxed 10.1, but I cannot use it as it is supposed to be. Is it a combination-problem? Dell + nVidia + Linux-kernel ? Please help, my system is useless at this moment, and adding another pci32-usb card isn't an option, because the 2 pci32 slots must be used for other things. I know that others do have related nForce4 problems and there are no fixes at the time of writing. Perhaps Novell can fix this OHCI problem and even the ACPI trouble in kernel.org kernels, and supply it to the growing OpenSource community so that Dell + SuSE doesn't have to be a commercial lie anymore. Please tell me how I can help, or better supply me a fix ;-) Kind regards, Jeroen C.
