https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=410115 Summary: strange video mode at boot time Product: openSUSE 11.0 Version: Final Platform: 64bit OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: syntron@web.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- I have a server running 10.1 with xen. This system is running without problems. I installed opensuse 11.0 in a new partition. The installation is a default system with xen. If I boot this system the console video mode is not useable. In the standard configuration it seems to be that the wide is only a half a line. The second half is displayed below. So the lower part of the display is missing (the login prompt). See attached image. The grub boot message is displayed fine. The strange video mode starts after the kernel takes over. Booting xen the boot messages are fine, but there is another bug. I tried to use the vga= kernel option. But this results in no display at all or only blinking color spaces on the screen. After X starts I can use the system but I would like to do not use X at all ...
