But the weird thing is that I also have a laptop with same keyboard layout and the problem does not appear. I have installed a full fresh copy of opensuse12.2 on my laptop, reformat all partitions except the home partition. Because I had that problem when testing the installation into a VM, I wrote down every single step of the install process. I did not have the keyboard layout problem. I did exactly the same installation on my desktop and the keyboard layout is not loaded. During the installation the keyboard layout is the right one. The problem is even worse when you use punctuation signs or @,% etc chars in your password. Can lead to an unusable machine, you cannot even login as root.
