To avoid booting issues I can not have grub use the UUID as that is the same on both disks, so I set GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID=true in /etc/default/grub and that has worked great for as long as I can remember. Recently though I had some weird issues and noticed that sda and sdb where mixed up (sda as home and sdb as root). So I checked /boot/grub2/grub.cfg and it started using UUID again for root while GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID=true is still set in /etc/default/grub Steps to Reproduce: 1) vi /etc/default/grub GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="resume=/dev/sda1 splash=silent quiet showopts" GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID=true GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=true 2) run grub2-mkconfig Actual Results: the following line will be created: linux /boot/vmlinuz-4.5.0-1-default root=UUID=cba2a011-73fb-4055-9861-d3bc7df472fb resume=/dev/sda1 splash=silent quiet showopts It still reads /etc/default/grub as it gets the default line with the resume to /dev/sda1 and does not probe sdb for others OS. it does seem to ignore the GRUB_DISABLE_LINUX_UUID entry though Expected Results: linux /boot/vmlinuz-4.5.0-1-default root=/dev/sda2 resume=/dev/sda1 splash=silent quiet showopts -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
