http://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=497066 Summary: Log Errors due to Video Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 11.1 Version: Final Platform: i686 OS/Version: openSUSE 11.1 Status: NEW Severity: Minor Priority: P5 - None Component: Kernel AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: noloader@gmail.com QAContact: qa@suse.de Found By: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.8) Gecko/2009032600 SUSE/3.0.8-1.1.1 Firefox/3.0.8 Below is from /var/log/warn (/var/log/fail has no entries) running OS 11.1. Intel 82810E chipset (Dell GX110). I don't recall seeing this under OS 10.3. Behavior during boot: OpenSuse 10.3: Text mode -> GUI mode (cleanly) OpenSuse 11.1: Text mode -> Brief Period of Video Noise -> GUI mode Video noise (sorry about the poor terminology) appears to be painting of random memory values. It was not present is OS 10.3. But it is present (in this configuration) under OS 11.1. ********************* Contiguous in log file ********************* Apr 21 05:56:22 linux-ethe kernel: [drm:drm_release] *ERROR* reclaim_buffers_locked() deadlock. Please rework this Apr 21 05:56:22 linux-ethe kernel: driver to use reclaim_buffers_idlelocked() instead. Apr 21 05:56:22 linux-ethe kernel: I will go on reclaiming the buffers anyway. I just have to boot and examine the logs. Actual Results: a handful of errors are logged from the video subsystem Expected Results: error free boot Being an old machine, this *might* have some bad memory. Unfortunately, if I swap out video card, I blow the configuration and cannot aide the team with feedback (if requested). I also do not have a virtual machine on this turd (the GX110 would drop to its knees), so I cannot attach a screen capture with the random video noise.
