https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=851063 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=851063#c0 Summary: phonon-backend-vlc's requirement on vlc-noX is too strict Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE 13.1 Version: Final Platform: All OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: KDE4 Workspace AssignedTo: kde-maintainers@suse.de ReportedBy: wbauer@tmo.at QAContact: qa-bugs@suse.de Found By: --- Blocker: --- User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux) KHTML/4.11.3 (like Gecko) Konqueror/4.11 SUSE 13.1's phonon-backend-vlc requires vlc-noX = 2.1.0. But VLC got updated to 2.1.1 yesterday, both in Packman and in the VideoLAN repos. So it's impossible now to use phonon-backend-vlc with VLC from those repos to get full multimedia support because of dependency conflicts. You have to stay with the included VLC version 2.1.0 and can't even play mp3s. Personally I updated to vlc 2.1.1 by telling YaST to ignore the conflict, and everything still works fine. So I think this dependency should just be relaxed, it doesn't seem to be necessary to require the exact version.
