https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=267222 Summary: MDNS doesn't disable even when /etc/hosts.conf includes "mdns off" Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: x86 OS/Version: openSUSE 10.2 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: Network AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: tgagne@wideopenwest.com QAContact: qa@suse.de First, MDNS is enabled by default and causes problems for networks with .local domains. Second, the instruction for turning it off I found on the 'net, adding the line "mdns off" to /etc/hosts.conf doesn't seem to work. When I try accessing LAN web servers multiple MDNS requests are made to 224.0.0.251 instead of normal name lookups. How can I turn it off? I tried unloading MDNS Responder w/ YAST but too many packages seem to depend on a library it provides. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
