https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=231186 Summary: System freezes due to S-ATA failure Product: openSUSE 10.2 Version: Final Platform: i386 OS/Version: Other Status: NEW Severity: Major Priority: P5 - None Component: Basesystem AssignedTo: bnc-team-screening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: novell@4fly.de QAContact: qa@suse.de Using Firefox with KDE the system suddenly froze completely. This means the input (mouse, keyboard) did not function (Ctrl-Alt-F1, Ctrl-Alt-Backspace etc) and the kernel seemed to be shot (no reaction to plugging in an usb-stick, which would normally at least produce blicking on the usb stick). This led me to a cold reset with all the fsck pleasure. I've attached the /var/log/message which points to an error with my S-ATA Plextor DVD drive. The S-ATA version of the 755-SA drive is giving me some errors with windows as well. Looking at the log it seems that reducing the S-ATA speed from UDMA-66 to 44 to 33 might have interfered (?) with the S-ATA harddrive or anything it is the last entry to the log. -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.novell.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
