https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=881496 https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=881496#c0 Summary: kernel-stable: Suspend problems with kernel >= 3.13 and KDE desktop effects Classification: openSUSE Product: openSUSE.org Version: unspecified Platform: Other OS/Version: openSUSE 13.1 Status: NEW Severity: Normal Priority: P5 - None Component: 3rd party software AssignedTo: opensuse-communityscreening@forge.provo.novell.com ReportedBy: bjoernv@arcor.de QAContact: opensuse-communityscreening@forge.provo.novell.com Found By: Community User Blocker: --- Since Kernel 3.13 (tested with latest 3.14.4 kernel from Kernel_stable repo) I can not use the suspend-to-disk function with KDE. Screen goes off, but PC does not power-off and will not resume after a hard reset. My setup: openSUSE 13.1 KDE 4.13.1 (from KDE_Current repo) Kernel 3.14.4 (kernel-desktop-3.14.4-2.1.g0de0f93.x86_64 from Kernel_stable repo, I also tested Vanilla kernels) Xorg 7.6 (from X11_XOrg repo) After a lot of testing I found, that the problem only occurs, if the desktop effects in KDE are active. I think, it's a kernel graphics driver issue for Kernels >= 3.13. I have this problem on two completely different PCs. PC1: ATI Radeon HD 3450 with radeon driver Intel Core i5-750 PC2: Intel Core i5-4200U Haswell with integrated graphics My current work-arounds are: using Kernel 3.12.21 (the latest Kernel < 3.13) or manually switch off desktop effects before suspend-to-disk. There is not much info about these work-arounds.
